Today we’re putting the Iscooter’s young kids IK3 electric scooter to the test. A fun smaller-sized scooter with LED strips along its footpad for both visibility and fun, targeting younger ride junkies aged 6-12. Equipped with a 150W motor, a cool magnetic charging function, and three different speed modes. Sounds perfect, right?
We think so too, and upon multiple parental requests the time has come. We’ve decided to put this little machine to the test. So without further ado, let’s dig into what the IK3 actually delivers and who should consider buying it.

Detailed Review – Iscooter Ik3
Motor Power and Speed

The IK3 has a 150W motor running on 18V, which puts it ahead of many competitors with 100-130W motors. This is all on paper, but during our test our 8 year old was able to achieve a respectable 9.7 mph, that’s pretty on point I would say.
The reason we don’t recommend the scooter to older riders are that its powered by a 18V battery, that’ll increase the 150W motors ampere usage by a lot. That results in a kid 10+ getting far less range than someone within our recommended age bracket.
The three-speed progression (3 mph, 6 mph, 10 mph) is perfect for incremental adjustment as your kid gets more comfortable riding. A great parental control that gives definitely provides the peace of mind we need as onlookers, and 150W give the scooter enough to power up a few minor hills in the area too. Anything huge and they’ll be pushing it up, but usually a 250-350W motor doesn’t dent those either.
Battery and Range
The motor combined with the 46.8 Wh battery at 18V is said to provide enough power for 60-80 minutes of fun. Realistically you can expect about 4.7 miles out of it which for us resulted in a 50 minute ride. That puts it pretty much in the middle with the rest of the 6-9 year old electric kids scooters. They’re really only made for some fun like enabling the kid to ride beside their parents on longer walks, and not all day commuting.
Charging takes 2-3 hours using the magnetic port, I didn’t clock it but there are a lot of reports that charging goes faster than that. That magnetic connector is genuinely kid-friendly because there’s no fumbling with orientation like the traditional barrel-plug. Kids can plug it in themselves without frustration or risk of bending a pin. Seen that one a couple times… My kids have forced me to eat my own words, if a little violence doesn’t work, add more.
Remember, don’t expect maximum power throughout the entire battery. Once the battery drains to around 30% your kid will feel a big difference in terms of power and acceleration. This is normal and a reason why we always recommend adults who need long commuters to buy something with a 30-50% more battery capacity then they need. But this scooter has enough to cover most neighborhood adventures for a young rider.
Incline Performance
The manufacturer claims the IK3 handles 15-degree inclines, which translates to about a 27% grade. That’s optimistic for a 150W motor with a 46.8 Wh / 18V battery. Expect struggles on the bigger neighborhood hills, especially with riders over 70 lbs.
For reference, when we tested the Segway E2 with its 300W motor (double the IK3’s power), it handled 15% grades comfortably but slowed noticeably on 20%+ inclines with our 165 lb test rider. Scale that down to a 150W motor with a 60 lb kid, and you’re looking at reasonable performance on gentle slopes but walk-mode on anything approaching the claimed 15-degree max.
If your neighborhood features San Francisco-style hills, you might want to look elsewhere. For typical suburban gentle slopes, the IK3 will manage just fine.
Ride Quality and Experience
The IK3 runs 6-inch solid tires with zero suspension. Every crack, bump, and uneven sidewalk section transmits straight through to the handlebars and deck. This results in hand and footpad vibrations. If you’ve ridden a normal kick scooter you know exactly what I’m talking about.
The IK3’s solid 6″ tires instead prioritizes maintenance-free (read less flats to fix). The 17.6 lb weight is manageable for parents carrying it and older kids can haul it upstairs on their own too. Compare that to the lead acid Razor scooters that weigh upwards 30lbs. It’s very important so that kids can maneuver around obstacles with ease and lift the scooter over curbs without the need for parent assistance. Freedom is when you can do it yourself.
The LED display is a nice touch and something you aren’t always getting at this price point. It shows speed, battery percentage, and what riding mode is enabled. One recurring complaint we saw during our research is that the handlebar loosens with regular use. Parents report needing to tighten it every few weeks. So go over it ever so often with an allen wrench. We didn’t ride it extensively enough to decide, but if there is an issue it will be the 2 screws on the stem down near the footpad.
If you want something more stable, there is the 3-wheeled T500 from Elecorange, built for the really young 3-5 year old riders.
Features Breakdown
Dual Brake System
The IK3 combines a motor brake (activated with a thumb throttle on handlebars) with a traditional kick scooter rear foot brake (friction). Both do an effective job, the footbrake is for harder stops while most times they’ll solely use the electric brake. More than adequate braking for the 10 mph speeds your kid will be going at.
Tires
Those 6-inch solid tires are puncture-proof, which eliminates my not favorite thing to do in the world, fixing flats. You may not see the importance, but I can tell you some electric scooter models are not built to be fixed. A motor wheel can take you 30 minutes because they’ve ran the cords in the most idiotic way imaginable. Here, you won’t be patching tubes or dealing with flats mid-ride. But you pay for that convenience with a more bumpy ride.
For smooth driveways and well-maintained sidewalks, it’s tolerable. For really bad roads and bumpy bike paths, expect complaints about hands going numb. It’s the price of some fun.
Lights

The IK3 includes colorful deck lighting that kids love. It’s not bright enough to give them any noticeable visibility at night, more of a fun aesthetic feature and the kids do love it. There’s no real lighting system setup, so if you’re going to be riding after dusk, I recommend you get them some regular bike lights that can be easily mounted at the front and rear.
Cockpit
The LED display sits in the center of the handlebar and it shows speed, battery level, and active riding mode (1/2/3 for the speed settings). It’s totally readable in daylight.
The throttle is thumb-activated, and the electronic brake throttle is found on the opposite side but instead of being black its red. A neat addition so the kids don’t pick the wrong one as easily. It is super easy so the kids will have no issues learning the ropes quickly. The kick-to-start safety feature requires a push before the motor engages, adding some extra safety to take-offs.
Build Quality
The build itself is very solid and we’ve found no reports of cracks or caveats. In fact what I found during research was that plenty of adults had tested it and the frame held up regardless if they pushed it well past the 154 lbs. Not recommended though!
That handlebar loosening issue is the main concern, which is manageable but worth noting. It suggests the stem connection could use better engineering or switch them out to thread-locking screws and the problem should be solved. Not a deal-breaker, but slightly annoying since its not usually a reoccurring issue.
The paint quality and finish of the scooter is less relevant in my book, a kids scooter will likely get banged up anyway and we’re not paying tesla prices.
Safety Features
Beyond the different speed modes and the kick to start, the IK3 is UL certified and has an IP54 water resistance rating. That rating means it handles splashes and light rain but isn’t waterproof for puddle riding or storage in wet conditions.
The scooter has auto shutoff after 5-10 minutes of inactivity, which saves on battery and makes it safer if the kids forget to turn it off. You’ll be surprised how common that one is.
What’s missing: no front headlight for visibility and no reflectors. So add a few adhesive reflectors to the cart while you’re at it. On top of that you always want proper safety gear as they get at it starting out.
Who Should Buy the Iscooter IK3?
The IK3 makes sense as a first/second electric scooter for kids around 6-9, heck even a 5 year old with the speed adjustments can use it. The IK3 delivers a great ride for what you pay and the kids are going to love it.
You should consider the IK3 if:
- Your kid are around 6-9 years old and under 100 lbs
- They won’t be riding off-road
- Rides will be mostly under 50 minutes and 5 miles
- You want some bang for your buck
- You’re willing to handle occasional handlebar tightening
Skip the IK3 if:
- You want premium brand assurance (get the Segway C2 Pro instead)
- Your kid is 9+ years old
- They’ll be riding on rough terrain
- You need extended range over 5 miles
Value Analysis
The IK3 delivers competitive specs at the lowest price in its category, it undercuts:
- Segway C2 Lite (while matching speed and runtime)
- Razor E100 (while offering 50% more motor power and 8 lbs less weight)
- Gotrax GKS (while providing longer runtime)
Final Verdict
Can you really get a good kids’ electric scooter for 100 bucks? The answer is apparently yes. As long as you take our recommended age into account because when shopping for electric scooters you want to go a little above the kids capabilities, this leaves room for growth.
The Iscooter IK3 is a solid budget option for parents buying a first electric scooter for young kids ages 6-9. The 150W motor, progressive speed modes, magnetic charging, and 50-ish minute runtime deliver genuine value at the lowest price point in this category. The dual brake system and UL certification check important safety boxes.
The rough ride from solid tires and no suspension is the biggest compromise, although most scooters in the category have similar setups. The handlebar loosening is annoying but manageable/fixable.
If you’re willing to accept that for the best performance-per-dollar ratio, the IK3 is definitely worth considering. Just buy through Amazon for buyer protection, keep an Allen wrench handy for handlebar maintenance, and with our test data you’ll have realistic expectations. If you need adjustable handlebar height, or more power the IK3 comes in both a “PRO version” (3 handlebar heights), and a “MAX version” with more power and performance.

FAQ – Iscooter IK3
How does the Iscooter IK3 compare to the Segway Ninebot C2 Lite?
The Segway has better brand reputation, higher build quality, larger 7-inch (hollow)tires, and RGB lighting with 250+ color options. If you prioritize value and specs, get the IK3. If you want brand trust and additional parental safety settings, spend the extra on the Segway.
How long does the battery actually last?
Manufacturer claims 60-80 minutes, which translates to about 5.6 miles. Our tests tells us you can realistically expect a 4-5 miles range or 40-50 minute runtime.
What are the most common problems with the IK3?
The handlebar loosening issue comes up repeatedly in reviews. You’ll need to tighten it every few weeks with an Allen wrench to prevent wobbling. The rough ride from 6-inch solid tires with no suspension causes hand vibration on bumpy surfaces.
